The Conference is Organized by the Greek Embassy in Riyadh and Institute of Graeco-Arabica, Athens, Greece.

Annual Symposium of Byzantine, Medieval, and Islamic History

At Ain Shams University there is an annual symposium of Medieval and Islamic History, in which most of the Egyptian Medievalists participate regularly. The organizers of this symposium, which was founded in 1981 by Raafat ‘Abd al-Hamīd († 2001) and Qasem A. Qasem, called it Seminar of Medieval and Islamic History

In 1999 Raafat ‘Abd al-Hamīd and the board of Seminar of Medieval and Islamic History decided to issue a new journal about Medieval, Byzantine, and Islamic History. Then, the first volume appeared in 2000. Many scholars from Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Britain, France, Spain, Greece, Ukraine and others, published many papers in JMIH  

In 2009 the board of JMIH decided to issue a new issue, which is called Journal of Medieval and Islamic History: Monographs. The First volume of this new series was issued in 2010 and was called "The Military Troops of Makkah during the Ayyubid and Mamluk Periods". The ISSN of this new issue is: 2090-2891
